Okay. Here I am, at 11.30 pm, still awake while everyone at my house is sleeping. I just finished reading a novel by Iwan Setyawan, titled 9 Summers 10 Autumns. And here it goes, a little review from myself.
This is an honest review from me. Okay, at first I bought this book because I watched Mr. Iwan at Kick Andy, I watched that show accidentally, because actually I don't really like watching talk show. Then I saw this guy and he shared his story at that show, and also promoted his book. I'm interested in his book and when I'm going to a bookstore I just bought it without thinking twice.
Apparently reading this book really open my eyes. I've always wanted to go to new york city, see the people there, how the move and walk very fast, see the street, the lights, the fashion, the skyscrapers, anything about new york. I like watching hollywood movies and tv series which most of the shooting are taken in nyc. So it makes me really want to go and feel the nyc so bad. I don't care if people say living in nyc is hard, this is a city that never sleeps, all I know is I just want to go there. From this novel, I learned nyc, and I found from this novel that nyc must be more interesting than what I've been watching on movies.
But, not only about that. This novel isn't about new york city. What I like the most is this is a great journey from a small guy from Batu to New York City, how an education can change his life. This is about a life changing, family, education, facing the fear, making dreams come true, or maybe more than his dreams even. However, his experience is very inspiring, and I'm so grateful that he shares his journey to people. I'm sure it will inspire everyone who read it.
However, I hope by reading this novel will give me more courage to chase my own dreams, and maybe Someday I will get my own nyc experience. Thank you Mr Iwan.
